Seeking God's Guidance

 By Glenda Little

What does seeking God's guidance for your life look and feel like?

I love this definition for guidance... Advice or information aimed at resolving a problem or difficulty, especially as given by someone in authority.

Who do we look to for guidance? Do we always look to our Heavenly Father for guidance for our lives?  He desires for us to seek Him. God tells us in Psalm 32:8, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye." (NKJV)

Have you ever been asked to lead a Bible study, teach a Sunday School class, or work in the nursery?

Are we like Moses and say, You want me to do what? Or, do you say YES immediately? Have you asked God if this is the right thing to say YES to? What you just said "yes" to may not have been His guidance and will for your life. He may have something else in the works for you. A place where He alone knows you would be great at serving.

Most importantly in our daily lives, we must seek the guidance of our Good Shepherd. We are His sheep and He cares and loves us, He stays right beside us and tends to our every need. We must listen to the Shepherd's voice! He calls us into a lifetime of service and like sheep it doesn't all look the same. Every sheep is different and every sheep has their own gift to offer to the Kingdom of God. He supplies all our needs and hears us when we cry out to our sweet, gentle Shepherd.

I know that He's longing for us to seek His counsel. If He wasn't, He wouldn't have taught us how to pray. Prayer is the key to communicating with God. When someone asks you to do something, it's okay to say "let me pray about it". But, be sincere and go to your "prayer place" and seek God's guidance. He will answer in His time and direct your path to serving Him.

Well, let me go...It's time for me to go to my place of prayer and seek God's guidance. Trust in God. As in Ephesians 3:20, He is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think.
